Friday The 13th (2009)

A very much anticipated blockbuster hit (Directed by Marcus Nispel) starring Jared Padalecki, Danielle Panabaker, Amanda Righetti, Travis Van Winkle, Aaron Yoo and Derek Mears. A remake of the original Friday The 13th and a poor one in my opinion, I felt it was too Hollywood and did not deliver the impact that it deserved. Your basic slasher story college kids go to their cabin for a get away and get slaughtered, sex drugs and murder. This movie delivers a few good scares and some gruesome and interesting killings much like you would expect also I really enjoyed Jason's role he seemed a lot more alive rather then a slow walking zombie. If your looking for gore then this is not the movie for you but if you are looking for a solid scary movie I think you would be more in luck. Not the best horror movie to come out but still a fun watch I give it a good solid 7/10 Dead Corpses

Dead Girl (2008)

A straight to video movie (Directed by Marcel Sarmiento and Gadi Harel) starring Shiloh Fernandez, Noah Segan, Michael Bowen, Candice Accola, Andrew DiPalma, Eric Podnar and Nolan Gerard Funk. I had heard some talk about this movie some said incredibly disturbing and others say it was very well done so I was not sure what to expect. The movie follows two high school kids Rickie (Shiloh Fernandez) and J.T. (Noah Segan) as they skip school for the day and where do they go a abandoned mental hospital of course, where they stumble upon the dead girl. This movie displays perfectly how horny teenage boys can be. Instead of phoning the cops they decide to have sex with it. Surprisingly the acting is very well done in my opinion. All around this was a pretty good movie that I think any fan of horror or someone looking for something a little different would enjoy I recommend this movie to all if provided you can stomach watching a little bit of rape giving it 6/10 Dead Corpses

Dead Snow (09-25-09)

Released to theaters (Directed by Tommy Wirkola) starring Vegar Hoel, Stig Frode Henriksen. Charlotte Frogner, Jenny Skavlan, Jeppe Beck Laursen, Lasse Valdal, Evy Kasseth Rosten, Bjorn Sundquist, Ana Dahl Torp and Orjan Gamst running for 91mins. A horror comedy from Norway so don't feel too bad if you don't recognise any of the actors. This movie was precisely what I hoped it would be, a zombie movie with a fun twist. Intelligent Nazi zombies protecting their gold while the College kids get high and try to have sex with each other all the while trying not to get murdered. The acting was surprisingly good considering what you would expect. The Nazi Zombie make-up and gore was decent but could have been better but all and all a good fun and enjoyable and dare I say a little more original then your regular zombie flick. I suggest going into the movie with a open mind and leave your pick-the-movie-apart friends at home and you will have a good time overall. My rating for this movie is 7/10 Dead Corpses

Rob Zombie's Halloween 2 (2009)

Halloween 2 is a highly anticipated blockbuster hit (Directed by Rob Zombie) starring Sheri Moon Zombie, Chase Wright Vanek, Scout Taylor-Compton, Brad Dourif, Caroline Williams, Malcolm McDowell and Tyler Mane as Michael Myers. I do feel a little bias on this review because I am a big fan of Rob Zombie's movies right down to House Of A Thousand Corpses that being said I will still rate fairly. Of course Michael Myer's body was never found and its a year later and another Halloween is approaching. The story follows Laurie Strode (Scout Taylor-Compton) as she goes on living her life trying to forget and deal with the happenings in the original Halloween by Rob Zombie mean while Michael Myers (Tyler Mane) is busy killing all hillbillies and white trash that step in his way. This movie in my opinion is much more violent then it's previous and overall is just simply a better movie with all that being said it did have its flaws. Through out the movie Michael Myers has visions of himself and of his mother (Sheri Moon Zombie) speaking to him. What began as a good and original idea soon became very very annoying and too often other than that this was a excellent movie and lived up to all of my expectations and more. I highly recommend this to any fans of the Halloween trilogy 8/10 Dead Corpses

August Underground's Mordum (2003)

Another straight to video snuff horror movie unlike the other I know why this would never make it to your local theater (Directed by Jerami Cruise, Killjoy, Mike Schneider, Fred Vogel and Cristie Whiles) starring all of the directors and many more . If your looking for gore and the most vile and disturbing movie ever then you have just found it. Done poorly with a held camera somehow intensifies the realness of the movie. No story line follows this movie but there is no way you could ever even follow one with the scenes placed in this flick. A group of friend document their twisted world of murder, torture, sexual humiliation and puking on their victims. I don't even have the vocabulary to express what you will feel when you watch this movie but I will say this when you do watch it you will never ever forget what you witnessed this is a must see movie for horror lovers and you cannot help but appreciate the life like violence even with no story line I recommend this movie to everyone 8/10 Dead Corpses

Slaughter (release date 09-22-09)

A straight to video horror flick (Directed by Victor Garcia) starring Erica Leerhsen, Jonathon Trent, Shawnee Smith and AnnaLynne McCord running for 96 mins.
Lets start with the expectations before renting the movie first. I had neither seen a trailer or a preview for the movie prior to renting it so its safe to say the expectations were low, with that being said what I did expect was a gruesome gore fest with nudity around every turn but that wasn't the case.
The movie takes place following the main character Faith (Shawnee Smith) trying to escape and cut the ties with her ex-boyfriend for reasons later revealed. Leaving her home and moving into a dumpy little apartment with the help of her friend,Faith decides to go clubbing and ends up making a new friend in the city Lola (Erica Leerhsen) who just so happens to live on a creepy beat up old pig farm. Faith falls in love with the farm and the wild lifestyle of Lola but soon realizes something more sinister may be going on with Lola and her family and the plot in my opinion goes downhill from there taking a average movie to a crap movie with awful plot twists and what felt like a rushed ending but even that being said Slaughter was more then I expected. I recommend this movie if nothing else is in stock giving it 5/10 Dead Corpses
